Guys, I was wondering if it were possible to add more Freight Options to the Vawdrey and Maxicube trailers so as to get more use out of them. Having only 3 or 4 freight options means we rarely get to "pull them" and that seems to be a waste of them.
If they could become more versatile, then that would be a huge plus for them.
In the interim though - is there a way to add some freight variety to them?

More Freight options?

The def/cargo folders are in part1 so you can easily extract that .scs file and make modifications to the cargo for the trailers.
Might be an idea to extract SCS "def.scs" as well to see how the cargo system works although for some reason the RTA method of adding cargo is.. different.

So it seems as though the only folder relating to "Cargo" is in the "Cargo Folder" of the Def's. The "Cargo Folder" contains a list of Folders relating to the Cargo Type. Those folders contain a list of the "Trailer Types in SII file format.
Is it possible to "ADD" a folder (for another cargo type - say general) then copy the "Trailer SII Files" into that newly created Folder? Is it that easy< surely not?

Yes.wombat457 wrote:Is it possible to "ADD" a folder
In "cargo" folder, open yogurt_m.sii (notepad will do it, but just about everyone uses notepad++)
in that file, change: "cargo_data: cargo.yogurt_m" to read "cargo_data: cargo.cheese_m"
change: name: "@@cn_yogurt@@" to read name: "@@cn_cheese@@"
Save the file as 'cheese_m.sii' in the 'cargo' folder.
In cargo folder, make: 'cheese_m' folder.
from 'cargo\yogurt_m' copy "maxicube.sii" to the cheese_m folder you just made.
then edit "cargo\cheese_m\maxicube.sii" and change "trailer_def.yogurt_m.maxicube" to read "trailer_def.cheese_m.maxicube"
Save the file.
In "def\cargo.maxicube.sii" add the line:
@include "cargo/cheese_m.sii"
There must be a curly bracket at the end. Save the file.
In "def\company" you will see a folder list of all companies in the vanilla map.
Inside each of those folders in "in" and "out" are the sii files that tell the game what cargo goes in or out.
in "42p_print\in" folder, open yogurt_.sii
in that file, change both instances of the word yogurt, to cheese.
Save the file as "cheese_m.sii" in the same 42p_print folder.
You can now copy that 'cheese_m.sii' file to ALL in and out folders of ALL companies. It's the same file for in and out, in all companies.
Don't change anything in the 'editor' folder, if there is one.
Now, the above process can be repeated for:
apples
bananas
milk
cream
carrots
fruit
etc, etc
Once you get to the point of adding all your new cargos to 42p_print's "in" folder, you can simply copy ALL the files (even the ones that already existed) to the 'out' folder. And then all other companies in and out folders.
Just don't make the cargo name too long. It upsets the game. I found 7 characters is optimal, but the game might allow more.
Using all the example cargo above, you'll find you have 7 more opportunites for delivery of cargo to and from all companies.
You'll probably need to sleep a couple of times for the economy system to catch up.
Hope this helps.

PS..
"in "42p_print\in" folder, open yogurt_.sii"
shgould read
"in "42p_print\in" folder, open yogurt_m.sii"

The principle is the same, yes.wombat457 wrote:Does the same apply for the Vawdrey Trailer as well?
Open the Maxicube mod part1 in an instance of Windows Explorer.. then open another instance of Windows explorer and navigate to the Vawdrey trailers mod part 1.
Resize them so each one takes up about half your screen and put them side by side.
You can check the similarities. Pretty much only the unit names will change. ie. the names that are unique to each mod.
For example..
In the def/company folder, each company's "in and "out" folder has multiple files in it because there is more than one type of trailer config.
But if you open any of those files, the contents are the same format as Maxicube def/company as outlined in previous post.

I did this exact thing with the Maxicube trailers when I first bought them ages ago.
I made some extra cargo - same as I explained further up in this thread - and added all cargo to all companies in all map DLC as well.
On any given day, I had maybe a dozen or more maxicube jobs for any given city. A computer upgrade saw those kinds of mods destroyed because I failed to make backups, but it worked really well until then.

Hi,
my name is Martin, I am a very long time RTA user but new here in the forum.
My english is not good, - sorry.
I really appreciate the work of RTA, - absolutely great!
Above all, the very good update service is exemplary!
Now to my request, since the 1:36 I get with the Double Trailers almost no more freight in the ATS.
Yes, I know SCS now makes restrictions on where doubles are allowed and where not. ... I find a very unfortunate regulation.
I would like to drag my trailers, especially payware trailers, whenever and wherever I want, and not just where it is really allowed.
Well, is it possible to solve the RTA doubletrailer from these limitations?
Thank you in advance,
best regards
Martin
